Christmas can't be over?

Today is the first day of having to wait for Christmas again. It is a real buzzkill. I love Christmas. To me Christmas isn't about the presents. It is fun to get presents, but in reality I could not get a single thing and be happy just to be reminded of the fact that more years ago than I can believe The Lord was trying to save my soul with His Son. That's why on Christmas I like to surround myself with the biggest blessing the Lord has ever given me, my family. As everyone who has ever read this blog knows, we are super close and love any reason to spend some time together. The gang is loud and fun, and as Bob said Spirited. When someone gets you that present you really wanted, we cheer. When you say what you are thankful for in the past year, everyone cries. We just love each other and we love to support each other.

This year was rare. My Dad's whole family was all in attendance of Christmas Eve at some point. This hasn't happened in over ten years. My Mom's whole family (HB's for life) was in the same house for the second time in three months. We all got to spend time catching up and talking about what was going on. I was so happy that we all got to be together. I was so happy that I didn't take a single picture.

Also today is my parent's 30th wedding anniversary. I am blessed with parents who love each other, and love the Lord. They always show us love and always put us first. Their love for our family is incredible. Also, they are coming to visit this weekend
I am thankful this year. Thankful and blessed. What more could a girl ask for really?
I hope you all have a splendid day!

I know, You Probably Thought I Was Dead

Hello All!
I think it has been a very long time since I last updated you people on my life. Yes, a very long time indeed. I have been meaning to do better, but until recently my posts would have been depressing and no one wants that.

First of all: Melissa is Married. Sorry boys, my lovely oldest sister is off the market. I must say that I couldn't be happier with my new Brother-in-Law. He is a great addition to the fam and I think at some points he even manages to calm us down. The wedding was perfect. I don't really think anyone could ever top it. Everyone had so much fun. Melissa of course looked so beautiful. I was honored to get to be in the wedding. I am so glad that I got to share this day with my sister. She is one of my role-models in life. Bob is a welcome addition to the clan. Finally, a boy in the Pigg clan, well technically Melissa is now a Hunter but oh well. Here are some photos.

Please pardon the lack of make-up
I wish that I could, but I can not take credit for these photos. They were done by Melissa's wedding photographer. He did a great job, and was so much fun.

Since the wedding I have mostly been traveling around. David and I went to Auburn for the Florida game. It was so much fun. I was happy to spend the day with the family and David got to spend some time with his long lost friends that think he is dead. We also got to see his family in Athens and even though the game was terrible I am glad that we got to spend some time with them.

Now for the second bit of big news. I now have not one, but TWO jobs. I got a job working part time at Ann Taylor a few weeks ago because the job search was all dead ends. I had orientation and that very same day I got a call from the Marriott in Knoxville. I went in for an interview and the next thing I knew I got a job! I am so excited for both opportunities beause the are both such great companies. Both jobs are an answered prayer. I am so blessed. The Lord has truly ensured my care for the past few months and now I hope I can return the favor to the generous.
I think that is it for now!

Quick Life Update

Here is the quick hitter version...
1. I no longer live in Auburn, so WEIRD! I'm currently a nomad.
2. I no longer have a job, annoying and not my smartest move ever.
3. I am job hunting and praying like crazy that someone hires me.
4. David has been so helpful, he has been driving me around and helping me with jobs.
5. I can tell you my employment history as well as my reference info in about 20 seconds.
6. Even though my friends are far away they could not be more supportive and I am thankful.
7. Laurie started blog, everyone should read it http://gamedayglitterati.blogspot.com/. AWESOME!
8. My parents, sisters and cousins are awesome.
9. We went to Dixie Stampede last night, David bought me a drink in a boot and a flag. He's great.
10. Hopefully the next time I blog you will read the words, I HAVE A JOB in the Title line.

Here's a few pics:

MIA (Part 2)

The month of June included Paige’s bachelorette party, my birthday, two of my oldest friends getting married (in the same weekend), a trip to Knoxville and my sister’s bachelorette party. We will start with Paige’s bachelorette: her party was June 4, Sarah’s birthday, and it was in Huntsville. Christen, Ashten and I rode together to Paige’s house where the party started off. We had food, played games, Paige opened presents and then we were off to celebrate in downtown Huntsville. It was a good party and it was good to catch up with old friends and meet the girls that were going to be in the wedding. Paige had a great time and got lots of good things at her shower. Overall it was a successful weekend.

The next week of my life was pure craziness. I headed home that Wednesday and made a much needed stop in Birmingham to meet up with my long lost friend Hollie and eat dinner. Her, her friend Ellen, Wynn and I met at The Summit and ate dinner to catch up, and they surprised me with a birthday celebration. Hollie got be a delicious cake from Edgar’s in Birmingham and it was awesome! It was good to catch up and just hang out. Thursday was my birthday which I spent running errands such as getting my nails done, and buying shoes before I headed to meet up with everyone for Paige and Joey’s wedding rehearsal. By far the shortest rehearsal I have ever been to. We only did it twice, which in my book is the perfect amount. We then headed to The Ledges where we had a delicious dinner and got to hang out and just spend time with the happy couple.

Friday was the wedding. We all arrived at the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville at 1:00 to begin getting ready. We did hair, makeup, took a few pictures and told stories before we headed outside to take pictures. The Botanical Gardens has so many great places to take pictures and the ones that I have seen since have been fabulous. The ceremony was very pretty and the Pastor told stories of how Paige and Joey met. The ceremony was sweet, personal, and luckily kind of short (it was a little hot outside). We then headed to the reception where we danced the night away.

The next day my friend Ashten got married at the Weston in Huntsville. The ceremony was very pretty and she of course looked as glamorous as I have ever seen her. She got so many compliments that I am sure she lost count of the number. Her and Dale had been dating for ten years by the time they got married and they still looked just as in love as they always have. The reception was so fun and we all got to sit and talk about growing up together and kind of catch up on what everyone was up to these days. It was so much fun!

Most people know that David now lives in TN, right around Knoxville (which I say because most people look at you funny when you say you are going to Seymour). He moved there at the end of March and we have been driving back and forth since.Sunday when I got back from the weddings David came to Auburn, and we celebrated my birthday. He gave me an amazing gift of a Le Creuset French oven (or Dutch oven, the booklet says French). I still haven’t gotten a chance to cook in it, but I cannot wait!  I then went there on Friday to spend the weekend. Our schedules are not friends, but we make it work. I’m going back soon and we are going to Dollywood! Heck yeah!

The last weekend in June was Melissa’s bachelorette party in Dauphin Island. Oh it was great; Very relaxing and very exciting. I hope it was everything Melissa wanted. We ate lots of good food, lounged in the sun, swam, tried to escape heat stroke, were entertained by a stone dog, and just had a good time. I can’t believe there her wedding is getting so close. Oh how time flies!

I know I that I have left out many many things, but my memory isn’t so good. I think I hit all the high points. I will be back with updates on Fourth of July, Dollywood and all the other events that the month of July holds in store. Crazy! I will be on the road every weekend!

No Longer MIA Part 1

Wow! I am highly letting myself down with my recent posting (because there hasn't been any). The reason there hasn't been any is because it feels like I never have time to sit down and write out everything that is happening and when I do I would rather read about other people's lives that are infinitely more exciting than mine for a laundry list of reasons that I will spare you from having to read (you're welcome). So let's see what has happened since March? Oh yeah I have driven almost every weekend. I've driven to Mobile, Destin, Macon, Charleston, Decatur (twice), Cullman, and Knoxville (4 times). I have loved getting to see everyone at all of these places, but my car does not love all the miles I am putting on it. Although, I haven’t driven my car on all the trips; I think my car is about ready to kill me anyway, but every trip has been important and every trip has been something I would not have missed for anything.

Let's see where to begin? I'll begin in Destin. As most people know my family is freakishly close, and we wouldn't change it for the world. Last year all of the cousins decided that it would be a fantastic idea to go on a beach trip with just us every year. I missed last year due to my friends graduating from Auburn that weekend, but I got to go for part of it this year. I must say that it is one of my favorite things. One night we all dressed in our best sequined items and hit the town. It was ridiculous. We looked like an 80's prom gone ALL wrong. It was so much fun though. We are definitely unlike most families I have met. I wouldn’t change that for the world though. Saturday night we had one of the worst dining experiences ever which made a few people a little anxious, but we finally got our food and went on our way. Needless to say we will not be returning there. If only I could remember the name of it. This was also the weekend that we discovered the honey badger video which will forever stay with the cousins.

The next weekend I hit the road to Macon so that I could meet up with David and we could go to Charleston with his family. We drove 5 hours in a jeep, with no top. I spent the entire trip thinking my blanket was going to fly out of the car. It really was a fun way to travel and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The trip was so much fun and so relaxing. David has a great family; they remind me a lot of the WDFJ. I am so thankful that they let me be a part of such a fun trip. I was also introduced to one of the most fun/frustrating beach games I have ever seen played. I am not even sure if it has a name. It involves two bottles, a Frisbee and two poles. You basically try to knock the other people’s bottle off of the pole while making them miss the Frisbee and whoever gets to 21 first wins. I claim I am not good, partially because of the bruise that was left on my leg when we left. David and I then drove back to Macon Saturday night in the jeep without a top, not as enjoyable as the trip in the sunshine.

Before I knew it Memorial Day was upon us and it was time to make the first trip to my favorite place on the planet Nash-ville (not to be confused with Nashville, Tn). I love our lake house so much and if I could live there every summer I would jump at the chance. David made the trip down and got to meet the whole crew. I am proud to say that he survived and I might even venture to say that he would hang out with us again, he’s a brave one. As per usual we all slept piled in the little house that we love (which is quickly becoming too small for all of us). We spent our days soaking in sun, most of us getting really burned by the end of the weekend. We took several boat rides, tubed, skied, and just enjoyed being around each other. Dad cooked the traditional meal of chicken and ribs on Saturday and then we had a delicious jambalaya feast on Sunday. We then took an all day boat ride on Monday which was heavenly and after eating leftovers for lunch we all headed our different ways.

Since all good things come in parts (Harry Potter anyone?) I will let this be a two part post (I know you are sick of reading).

Happiness

I wanted to share with everyone one thing that brings about a majority of my happiness in this world. Finding new cooking blogs and printing off countless recipes. If I make them or not is always a good question, but I like to have them in my box so that if one day I need something new I can just get it out of my recipe box.

Well these past two days the "cook something new and yummy" desire struck again and I started looking on blogs for new recipes. This is when I discovered The Pioneer Woman. Yes I know that I am very behind in jumping on the band wagon, but I don't care at all. I have now looked at every recipe on the website. It is because of this that I found another good one Joy the Baker. I don't know who all has seen this one, but is good too! So since I was late in life in following these everyone has probably already seen them, I don't care. I hope that bring you happiness as well!
Lots of love!

Drum Roll Please...

So as with the recent trend today I am going to take the time to tell you about another one of my wonderful and inspiring best freinds.

This week is the one and only Laura Williams. This is because she is BACK IN AUBURN!!! WooHoo!!!

Laura and I became room mates first and best friends second. We didn't really know each other when we moved in, but I knew that things would work out. Now I don't even know what I would do with out this girl in my life. We do things that are a lot alike, and also some things that are very different. Laura is possibly one of the best people I know at keeping a friendship going despite distance, which is good because I have stated many times before that I am not. Laura and I share a love of tv shows, of Auburn football, and of many other things. The list is really long. She is one of the most loyal people I have ever met and will defend the people she loves until she wins, and she will win. She is crazy smart and a crazy hard worker. She will do her very best to never let herself down as far as her work effort goes and people are envious of what she can get done. She won't ever half way do anything. The thing I respect the most about my friend is that she will tell you exactly what you need to hear. Not what you want to hear. If you ask her a question you know without a shadow of a doubt that the answer you are going to get is the truth. I am so glad that she moved in with us and so glad that we eventually want to end up in the same city. I see us living together in our futres L-Dub! Love you.

Laura, this blog has made me realize we don't take nearly enough photos together. Let's work on that! Love you!

I would like to introduce you to...

This is the second of my posts about my best friends. This week is all about Molly or Molz as she is known by those that have ever lived at Taleeda.
For some reason I think mine and Molly's friendship is the one I saw coming the least. I am not really sure why. I do remember the first time we ever hung out, just the fact tha tI picked her up and she had a Kavu purse on. We hung out with Suz that night, I feel like we might have all gone to dinner or something.

Molly and I share the role of the party planners in the group. Both of us like to host the shindig. Over the years Molly's quiet sweet spirit has always been one I admire so much. Everyone loves Molly. She is kind, strong, smart, and has a sense of humor that is all her own. Anytime I ever see someone fall down I think of Molly. We lived together for 3 years and I can say that she taught me a lot about myself in the fact that we would both get annoyed with how dirty our hosue was at the same time or sit down on the couch and have to tell each other the exact same thing. We always seemed to be on the same page. We share a love of the same tv shows and that is how we always spent our quality time together, over ABC or a good movie.
She is smart, organized, and level headed. She always seems to see the part or side of a problem that others may miss. I respect the grace and ease with which she lives life. Always conquering every task that is ahead of her. She IS the most repsonsible person I know. We are completely the same in some ways and completely different in others. I hope that everyone has a friend like her, someone who knows how you feel and challenges you all at the same time!

Best Friends

Last night inspired me to take a little time to tell you about my very special best friends:

This blog is dedicated to my bestie that moved to New York and I got to see last night for the first time in 2 months. I literally could not wait to drive to Bham yesterday to see her. I was like jumping up and down at work. I left at the first possible moment and ran home to change clothes and meet Suz. We drove to Birmingham to meet Mal at P.F. Chang's (one of my very favorite places to eat) and arrived around 7:00. When we got there it was raining but we hugged it out in the parking lot anyway.
Dinner was amazing, mostly due to the fact that we got to catch up on what had been going on in each other's lives. Mal has always been that person that I call when I have problems or when something new is happening in my life so I was glad to finally be able to bring her up to date on everything. I loved hearing all of her wonderful New York stories.

I am sad that I no longer get to experience life with Mal living right next door. She is one of the few people in this world that will just sit and spend quality time with me. Our target runs were epic and we always justified each other buying things that we did not need. To this day we send each other pictures of stores we wish we could go in with each other. She has the ability to pick out items in stores that I will love and tell me that I should buy them, even when I try to surprise her I can't. She is one of the most Godly women I have ever met and I admire her ability to fully trust in the plan the Lord has for her, because that is something I struggle with. She amazes me daily and I couldn't be more proud of her if I tried. Mal has the ability to find out how to make the most of the time that she spends with people and always makes an effort to stay in contact, which is good because I am pretty bad at it but trying to get better. She is my encourager and I could not be more thankful that I have her as a best friend. The world is lucky she is in it! Lurv you Shriley!
The photos aren't exactly in the right order, but I can't make them fix. 1 photo from every year of our friendship.

Blessed Beyond Words

Recently I have been taking a look around my life and realizing how much I really take for granted. My life is so full of joy and I have been blessed far beyond anything I ever could of imagined. I can not get over how much the Lord has given me in just the few years that I have been alive. He has given me an ultra supportive family that no matter how mad they may get at me or how confused I may make them they are always there supporting me. I have always had plenty of food on the table, clothes on my back and a roof over my head. I am one of very few people that got the opportunity to earn my college degree, and my parents made sure that I did it debt free. I wasn't ever told that I couldn't participate in anything because of my health, there instead were special accomodations made if they were needed. I never spent a night alone in the hospital. To this day I still talk to my parents almost every day and treasure our relationship. My family means the world to me and without them I have no idea where I would be.
The Lord has also blessed me with some of the very best friends anyone could ever ask for. Even though we are now all moving all over we still talk regularly. We make an effort to stay involved in each other's lives. I can not imagine what the last 5 years of my life would have been like without the Taleeda girls. They have helped shape me into the woman that I am. They make me want to be better and do better.

I can not put into words how blessed I am, and this little blog is by no means a full description of how thankful I am, because no words could ever do it justice.

Love these two!

Dreamer

Recently I have been thinking about dreams a ton. By recently I mean since about May. As everyone knows I have not always had the best luck with dreams. Whatever I fear most always seems to manifest itself in my dreams while I try to suppress what I don't like to think about during the day it never fails that it pops up in my mind while I am asleep.
Recently I haven't been having dreams every night, when I do they are normally violent and in some way involve me and another person trying to brutally kill the other one. I think this is because I have been reading The Hunger Games (which I highly suggest to everyone). This presented me with a question.... Is my ability to over think every situation staying with me while I am asleep? Is this my mind battling with the options that currently lay at my feet? According to a dream dictionary analysis I am completely wrong. Hmmm.... I guess there is no real way to tell.
I hope now all you will over analyze your dream!
Lots and Lots of Love!

Paragraph 3 is most important!

This past weekend was one of the best weekends I have had in quite some time. For starters Laura was in town which was exciting because now that she lives in Atlanta I hadn’t seen her since New Year’s Eve. Friday night Laura, Devin and I went to dinner at Mellow Mushroom where David met us and we all got to just hang out. I need Laura to move back to Auburn pronto. It was such a fun night. There need to be many more like it.

Saturday Laura, Suz and I took Buster, Suzanne’s new pup, to the park to play. The original intention was to take the little guy on a walk but he is about the size of a shoe so he would have been dead. So instead we just sat and talked about what was going on in our lives and what our plans are for the next few years. Laura and I have decided to move to Nashville together in 2012. After we left the park we dropped Buster off and headed to the baseball game. While driving around Auburn I got a very exciting phone call that I will tell you about later because it deserves a lot of attention. We then went to the baseball game and got a hotdog and sat down to watch the game. The sun was shining and we all got a little bit of sun. It was amazing. Auburn lost, but in the end it was still enjoyable. Laura and I then dropped Suz off so she could show Buster off to more people. Laura and I went downtown for a little while and then we both headed home. We all met back up for dinner at Fuji. I then headed to La Grange to go to a movie with David.

So now onto to the important phone call… As I was driving around Auburn Melissa calls me. I answer not thinking anything about it because her and Bob are headed to Bham for Bob’s birthday. After Mel asks me what I am doing and I recount to her everything that is going on she then says to me “I was just calling to see how you would feel about having a brother-in-law?” After a good 10 seconds of me trying to process this information it hits me! I then say “Are you saying what I think you are saying?” To which the response was “We got engaged this morning!” Needless to say I was very excited for the two of them. I think they are great for each other and I think that Robert is a really great guy. Mostly I am just excited that Melissa has found someone that makes her happy and makes her feel special. I talked about it to the point Saturday that all my friends were very annoyed with me and wanted to tell me to shut up. Oh well! I don’t care because my sister is GETTING MARRIED!

Ok so now back to the weekend… Sunday Sarah came for a visit and we went to lunch and back to the baseball game where Auburn won. It was a little cooler than Saturday’s game, but still pretty great. We met Laurie there and then went to Momma G’s for dinner. Sunday our restaurant luck was not top notch, everywhere we tried to go was either closed or packed! Last night Sarah and I just hung out with Amy when she got home from NOLA and watched TV. Overall it was a great weekend. God blessed us with great weather and He has blessed me with great people in my life! I wish that this weekend hadn’t ever ended! The good thing is that there is another on starting on Friday! Spend some time outside this week, it can change your mood! Lots and lots of love!

Virtually Redecorating

In my down time at work today I have decided to search the Real Simple webpage. In doing this I have found several ideas for the home I will one day own and decorate in ways that are annoying to everyone else but I will love. Here are a few of the ideas.
For anyone that ever visited my room in Taleeda this is what I was going for (except of course for the fact that my bed spread is WAY better.) I love the iron bed, the colors on the wall, the floor that you can hardly see and the little bed side table. One day it shall all be mine!

No I don't know these people, but I am very jealous of this orange room that they were given in a contest. If this was my room though the color scheme would be translated into a living room. Can't you just see that bed being a white couch with print pillows? I can. The only thing it is missing is this little gem...

Now you all have seen into my mind just a tad. It is an interesting place in there.
Have a blessed and colorfilled day!

I have to admit something...

As sad as it is to say I have to admit that pretty weather makes me a much happier person. In general I try to be happy most of the time, but when it is warm outside that task is much easier. I wish that I could say that I embrace the cold and use it as a chance to curl up with a book and tea like all the movies say to do when it is cold outside, but instead I just sit and pine for warm weather.
This weekend the weather in Auburn (and I think the rest of the state as well) was amazing. Me and 70 degrees get along just perfectly. We walked for around 2 hours which was well needed. In short I can't wait for the end of March when the weather acutally allows me to spend more than .25 seconds outside without wanting to fall over and die.

Behold 2011

As most people know every year I work as a small group leader for a few of the 1,200 youth that come to Behold every year. The second that it gets over every year I start to think about how I can not wait for next year. It really is one of the best experiences of my whole year. This year marked my 8th Behold, and my 5th as a SWAT leader. It was by far the best year yet. The Lord really worked this weekend and anytime you see the Lord at work it takes your breath away.
Here is a breakdown of how things went. I left from work and went to pick up about oh 1,000 t-shirts from the printer and then headed to camp. It is about a 3 hour drive, but on the way there it seemed like a 20 minute drive. I knew that most everyone was already there and I was missing out so my excitement made the drive seem shorter. I arrived around 6:45 to a snow covered camp. It was the definition of beautiful. As I suspected most of the staff and other SWAT leaders were already there, but luckily not too much was going on yet. For the rest of the night we worked on lesson plans and just got to hang out with all the people that we don't get to see enough.
Saturday we started our day with breakfast at around 8:30 and then took a dangerous tour of snow covered camp which allowed me to try to take a few artsy photos, while getting told to hurry up by Byron. It was ok though because I know where everything is. At 12:00 students started showing up and at 2:30 we kicked off Behold. The first session was about finding your Purpose in Christ and abandoning the things in your life that are keeping you from Him. We had our first SWAT meeting ate dinner and then went back to Hutto for the second session of the day. I also got the chance that night to get something that has been weighing on my heart out in the open. I can say that I now feel about 10 pounds lighter.
Sunday is always an exciting day because it is the only time that we are there the full day. We had a morning session, a SWAT meeting, lunch and then 4 hours of free time. I read The Radical, spent 30 minutes in the prayer chapel and worked in the craft room. Then it was a SWAT meeting, dinner and a worship service. Sunday night is always the big night and I can honestly say that God moved in that night and everyone felt it. It is amazing what happens when we just open ourselves up to Him. After the students headed to youth group time the SWAT leaders bundled up and headed out to have a bonfire. It really was amazing. We got to stand in the prettiest place ever while singing and worshiping our Father. The entire group said a prayer over Derrick and I while we were outside. We both have some big events coming up that involve leaving the country, his in service to our country and mine being World Race. It is humbling to stand in the middle of 75 people who love the Lord and hear them ask Him to protect you and use you. The friends that I have made throughout are more like family, and what a great family it is.
Monday is always sad because everyone knows that the end is near and we are about to have to head home. We closed with communion and worship. Then we headed out, after stopping to eat Mexican (A tradition) on the way home.
I can not say how much this weekend meant to me because words could not do it justice. I hope that everyone gets the chance to experience something like Behold if not Behold itself.
Lots of Love!

Happy New Year! I am happy to say that so far the new year is going great! I am in my third week of work and even though there are so many new and different things to learn every day I am so happy with my job. I have been spending a lot of time with Wynn during the new year and that makes me happy because he is so supportive of people living their dreams and no matter what is going on in my life I can vent to him.

I am looking forward to everything this year has to offer. In the month of January I have made a trip to Atlanta to bring in the New Year wtih Mallory and Laura at Laura's new apartment. I am so proud of the two of them. Mallory moved to New York and Laura is living in Atlanta, my friends are now big city people. This weekend I am going to Mobile to spend some much needed time with my sisters. We rarely spend time just the three of us because we all live on such different schedules. Then the next weekend is Behold, which everyone knows is my favorite time of the year. The next weekend I will be staying in Auburn because the tires will be falling off my car from driving so much.

January also means ALL of my tv shows come back on! TV means lots of bonding time with Molly. I welcome this because I have really missed seeing her the past few months when we were on complete opposite schedules. I also love that now I have something to do at night besides sleep.

As most people know the National Championship is Monday. I am hoping that it goes well. It would be a once in a lifetime experience to see my school win something so huge, as well as a great going away present.

It is the year of World Race people! Get excited!
That's all for now, I need to work.
